About

Petaluma Wrestling Club

Petaluma Wrestling Club (PWC) is volunteer run 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young athletes in grades K-12 through the sport of wrestling. PWC was founded in 2019 by Mike Gardner and Isaac Raya, two former wrestlers who are also long-time coaches and public school educators. With incredible support from the community and an engaged Board of Directors, PWC is now a thriving organization that aims to continually improve and expand opportunities for athletes in our great sport.

PWC provides a supportive, safe and inclusive environment for wrestlers of all ages and skill levels. Our coaches have decades of combined youth wrestling coaching experience and hold Wrestling Leader memberships though USA Wrestling which require background checks and SafeSport training. PWC’s coaching philosophy includes an emphasis on skills development and improvement, sportsmanship and having fun. Wrestling is for everyone, and our commitment to accessibility is reflected in our affordable fees and financial aid options.

We offer programs tailored to different skill levels, ensuring every wrestler can progress at their own pace. From introducing the basics to refining advanced techniques, we are committed to helping each athlete reach their full potential. Programs for beginners and newer wrestlers are focused on wrestling fundamentals and fun. For those with aspirations of elite training and competition, we provide access to high-level coaching, renown clinicians, and a challenging tournament schedule with coaching support that includes local, state, regional and national/international competitions.

We are a USA Wrestling Chartered Club and a member of the Coastal Mountain Wrestling Association. Proudly, our team was crowned the Coastal Mountain Wrestling Association Champions in 2024. In addition to great success locally, Petaluma Wrestling Club wrestlers in elementary through high school have placed at regional, state and national/international tournaments such as the NorCal Tournament of Champions, CAUSA Wrestling Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman state tournaments and Reno Worlds.

PWC is run by dedicated volunteers who share a passion for the sport and a commitment to developing well-rounded young people. Our leadership serves as positive role models, demonstrating professionalism and integrity on and off the wrestling mat.

Wrestling teaches invaluable life lessons such as discipline, perseverance, and respect. These qualities, coupled with the physical and mental challenges of the sport, contribute to the development of successful individuals. Join the PWC family and watch your athlete thrive!

Below is an outline of our general yearly schedule. Current registrations can be found on the Registration page. Please reach out with any questions you have, and we look forward to seeing you on the mat!
